My children want to make a pumpkin pinata for Halloween this year so I surfed the internet looking for ideas. We know the basics of how to make a pinata and we have all these left over punch balloons from my grandson's first birthday so we can make a few pumpkin pinatas!
I like the way this pumpkin pinata was made and more than likely will follow this but you can also just use newspaper and paint it orange and then cut out the facial features with black construction paper and glue it on. Just try to use whatever you have around the house, even shredded scraps of orange material would work (shredded or cut in pieces so the pinata will break).
Well here are the instructions from Life as a Convert :>D
Materials:
Balloons
Newspaper cut into strips
Starch (*Craft:>D note~you can substitute this with diluted glue or mod podge)
Streamer Paper
Step 1.
Blow the balloon up
Step 2.
Pour the starch into a bowl
Dip the newspaper strips into the bowl and cover the balloon with them
Make sure you put enough layers to make the balloon really hard
LOTS and LOTS of layers
Step 3.
Let dry.
Step 4. Cut streamer paper (or tear it) into small sections approx 1.5 inches long
Step 5.
Place a spot of glue on the covered and dried balloon
Slightly wad the streamer paper up and stick it into the glue
Repeat until covered.
Step 6.
Add the face
Fill with candy :)
(Here is the hole we left in the top to fill with candy)
